A durat aproximativ o ora, ceea ce spune multe despre atentia acordata. Totul foarte bine facut si cu rabdare. Recomand!Certificat de: TrustindexInsigna verificată Trustindex este Simbolul Universal al Încrederii. Dental services for children
From first settling-in visit to complete treatments, tailored to the age and needs of each child.
Settling-in sessions
The first step before any treatment. We get little ones used to the dental surgery at a pace that is comfortable for them - we introduce them to the instruments, explain what we do and what we work with, with no rush and no treatment on the first visit if it's not the case. This stage makes the difference between a child who is afraid of the dentist and one who comes to appointments with pleasure.
Professional hygiene and brushing techniques
Regular sanitizations and learning the correct brushing technique are the most effective ways to prevent cavities in children. At SmileCity, professional hygiene for children includes professional teeth cleaning and - just as importantly - correct, age-appropriate brushing instruction. We teach your little ones how to brush at home, step-by-step, so that oral hygiene becomes a healthy habit and not a chore.
Dental sealings
Children's dental sealants protect the grooves and pits of molar teeth, the places where bacteria accumulate most easily and where the first cavities appear. The procedure is simple, painless and highly effective - a thin layer of protective material is applied to the tooth surface immediately after eruption. We recommend sealings at 6-7 years of age, when the first permanent molars erupt, and at 12-13 years of age for second molars.
Dental fillings (fillings) in children
Dental fillings in children restore teeth affected by cavities and halt their progression. We treat cavities in both baby and permanent teeth with safe, aesthetic, mercury-free composite materials. Decayed and untreated baby teeth can damage the bud of the permanent tooth underneath - that's why fillings in temporary teeth are just as important as fillings in permanent teeth.
Children's root canals
Sometimes a deep cavity or dental trauma affects the nerve of the tooth - in which case root canal treatment is necessary. In children, the procedure is tailored to the specifics of the deciduous dentition and is performed under local anesthesia in maximum comfort. The aim of root canal treatment is to save the tooth naturally, avoiding premature extraction and alignment problems that may occur later.
Extractions in children
Extractions in children are necessary when a tooth can no longer be saved or when it prevents a permanent tooth from erupting properly. Most commonly, parents come to SmileCity for the extraction of baby teeth that are not falling out on time and blocking the eruption of permanent teeth. The procedure is performed with local anesthesia, tailored to the child, effective and trauma-free. The doctor always assesses whether extraction is really necessary or if there are alternatives.
The most common reasons parents bring their children to SmileCity
In our team's experience, the three situations we face most often are:
1. Milk tooth extraction
The baby tooth did not fall out on time, and the permanent tooth began to erupt behind it or in a different position. Prompt treatment helps prevent alignment problems with the permanent teeth.
2. Fillings
Cavities detected at regular check-ups or that have already caused pain. We treat the decay, save the tooth and stop the progression - in both baby and permanent teeth.
3. Professional sanitation
First professional hygiene, often accompanied by brushing instruction. Many children do not brush effectively at home - regular in-office hygiene complements daily hygiene.
At SmileCity, we treat children from toddlers to adults:
Toddlers from 2 years
(first baby teeth)
Pre-school and school children
(mixed dentition, 6-12 years)
Teenagers
(young permanent teeth, up to 17 years)
Our aim is not just to treat existing problems, but to form healthy oral hygiene habits that last a lifetime.
Age-appropriate treatments
2-6 years - Milk teeth
The first visit to the dentist can be a positive adventure if done correctly. Get your child used to the office gradually - see the instruments, touch them, understand what's going on. Never force a treatment if your child is not ready.
🦷 Proper brushing for children
- Age 0-2 years - use a damp towel or silicone gum brush; toothpaste the size of a grain of rice
- Age 2-6 years – a toothbrush with a small head and soft bristles; a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste
- Brush twice a day - in the morning after breakfast and in the evening before going to bed
- Minimum duration: 2 minutes - 30 seconds per dial
- The right technique - small circular movements, not aggressive horizontal rubbing
- Covers all surfaces - the front, back and chewing surface of each tooth
- Don't forget the language - gently brush the surface of the tongue to reduce bacteria
- Don't rinse with lots of water - leave a little fluoride on your teeth after brushing
- Replace your toothbrush - every 3 months or after a cold
- Supervise up to ~8 years - children do not have the dexterity to brush effectively on their own
- Dental visit - from the first tooth or at 1 year
7-17 years - Mixed & permanent teeth
The period of permanent teeth is critical. We seal newly erupted molars, treat early decay and assess the need for braces before problems worsen.
What we do at this age:
- Permanent molar sealings (6-7 years)
- Regular professional sanitization
- Treatment of Cavities in Permanent Teeth
- Early orthodontic assessment
- Permanent teeth eruption monitoring
- Individualized oral hygiene instruction
- Monitoring jaw development
At what age do you bring your child to the dentist?
From our practice, most children coming for the first time to SmileCity have between 5 and 7 years, an important period when the baby teeth are complete and the first permanent teeth begin to erupt.
But we recommend visiting much earlier: immediately after the first baby tooth appears or at the latest by 1 year. The purpose of this early visit is not a treatment, but to settle the child into the practice and prevent problems before they occur.
Here's a rough guide by age:
- 1-3 years - First settling-in visit, teething assessment, tips for parents
- 4-6 years - Hygienization, fluoridation, milk molar sealings, first fillings if necessary
- 6-8 years - Permanent molar sealings, permanent teeth eruption monitoring, orthodontic evaluation
- 9-14 years - Regular hygiene, caries treatment, orthodontic evaluation
- 14-17 years - Hygienization, fillings, monitoring of young permanent teeth

Frequently asked questions about children's dentistry
From what age does a child go to the dentist?
The first visit to the dentist is recommended as soon as the first baby tooth erupts or at the latest at the age of 1 year. The purpose of this first visit is not for treatment, but to help your child settle in to the practice and to make a general assessment. Regular preventive visits (at 6 months of age) prevent cavities and ensure long-term healthy teeth.
Does extracting a baby tooth hurt? How do you deal with anxious children?
At SmileCity we use local anesthesia and child-friendly distraction techniques. Before the extraction, the doctor explains step-by-step what will happen, in friendly language. The clinic's relaxed atmosphere helps a lot - many children don't even realize when it's over.
Are fillings needed in baby teeth if they fall out anyway?
Yes, absolutely. Baby teeth maintain space for permanent teeth and are essential for chewing and speech. Untreated decay progresses in children and can damage the permanent tooth bud underneath, cause pain, infection and premature tooth loss - with consequences for the alignment of the entire dentition.
At what age are dental sealants made?
Sealings are recommended immediately after the eruption of permanent molars: the first molar erupts at 6-7 years, the second at 12-13 years. They are done as soon as possible after eruption, before the grooves become contaminated with bacteria. The procedure is effective, painless and reduces the risk of decay by up to 70%.
How do I know if my child needs braces?
Early orthodontic evaluation is recommended around age 7. The doctor can identify alignment or bite problems that benefit from intervention at the right time. At SmileCity we evaluate each case individually and recommend orthodontic treatment only when it is truly necessary.
